READING/WRITING INTERVENTION

This program is offered to small groups of children in the early years of schooling. Even in a language rich classroom, where the best methods for teaching reading, writing, speaking and listening are employed, some children still need extra help to learn to read. They are given this opportunity through specialist support where they work with a specially trained literacy teacher on a regular basis.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR

At St Joseph’s we provide camping experiences from Prep to Year 6 both in the form of excursions and overnight camps in a variety of settings.

BUDDIES PROGRAM

Children in grades Foundation and One are buddied with children from grades five and six.  This helps the younger children feel safe and secure in the school while it helps the older children develop responsibility and leadership skills. Throughout the year a number of buddy activities are held to build positive relationships.
